President's Letter - March 2017

Sara Krisher, ACC
ICF Minnesota President

What are the benefits of becoming an ICF coach you ask?

Sharing the benefits of belonging to ICF is not as easy as reciting a list of bulleted points of deliverables handed to me by the brilliant people that run this organization in exchange for your annual membership dues. While those are definitely significant, for me it goes deeper.

For me, the answer to this question is a bit messy. First, I think of the time I give and the effort I extend. I think of what it takes for me to be a part of this organization. I think of the problem solving, collaborating, and steering I’ve been a part of. I think about how challenging it is to show up for a meeting when I really just want to put my fuzzy pajamas on and curl up on the sofa at home. I think about all of the other responsibilities that compete with my involvement in this organization and I sometimes get overwhelmed.

But then I am quickly reminded of the impact of seeing good friends who happen to be colleagues in this coaching profession. I reflect on the meaningful conversations that I have and the personal discoveries I’ve made. I think about the business building nuggets I’ve learned during the programs and outside of the programs. I am reminded of the mentors that have embraced me and offered to guide me as I navigate leadership and life. I think of the incredible talent that continually shows itself in each of you in the form of powerful questions and compassionate listening.

So when you ask me why I am a member of ICF I will tell you it’s because of all that I get and all that I give. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship. It’s just like a good friend. I give and I receive. It’s a rich relationship developed over time. I am committed to the growth of the organization and the organization is committed to my growth. Each one of you has the opportunity to take part in this vibrant relationship. What will you do to get the most out of your membership?

At our January in-person meeting you identified some of the reasons you belong to ICF and here are your answers:

Connections, take coaching to the next level, finding my tribe, support, professional development, inspiration, support through the ups and downs of business, growth, getting out of the house, laughter, ideas, encouragement, sharing, client referrals.

Renewal season is upon us. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me with your questions.

Call me at (763) 331-2914 or email me at SaraKrisher@STANDTALL-LLC.com I want to hear from you. I would love to hear your thoughts on how you would like to engage and make the most of your membership. Your contribution is welcome.

With Confidence,

Sara Krisher, ACC
ICF Minnesota President

Booming Business Blueprint: Getting Clients: Luck, Logic and the Law of Attraction

by Lynn Nodland, Ph.D., MCC and Robin Nordmeyer, CLC

Greetings,

Lynn and Robin here with www.BoomingBusinessBlueprint.com and the Masterful Coaches Community. We help you to reach your goals for a booming business, balanced life, and a masterful coaching practice. Our last article was on the concept of building your business with a well thought out plan. Without clients you have no business. Part of your plan for your business entails getting more clients. This article will help you use your plan to identify various ways to get more clients.

GETTING CLIENTS: LUCK, LOGIC AND THE LAW OF ATTRACTION

Using Luck to Get Your Next Client –
Sometimes as a coach you may be feeling like you don’t have much control over getting that next client. You have done your training, put out business cards, built a website, and there you are, waiting patiently. You are hoping the phone will ring or the new client will just show up. Are you caught in this trap?
Sometimes it’s your lucky day, and a client does fall into your lap. To increase the possibility of luck working in your favor, let’s look at what you can do to improve your luck.
One way is to keep your eyes open wherever you go to look for opportunities that help you connect with a prospective client. There may be places to pin a business card, flyer or special offer. There may be an opportunity to set up an informative event. A second way is to be open to engaging in conversations with new people. In your conversations, make a point to find out more about the person you have just met and the opportunity may present itself to share what you do as well.
What are a few places where you regularly go that give you an opportunity to increase your luck of meeting new people and potentially getting a new client?

Using Logic to Get Your Next Client -
With luck, you go somewhere and hope to bump into prospective clients. With Logic it’s more about having a plan to put yourself in the right places at the right time to connect with your ideal clients. You can begin to look for where your ideal client is hanging out and where you have more chance of engaging with them and building on those important know, like and trust factors.
Depending on your style, you can do this by meeting people in person with networking at live events, going to forums, or joining groups. Logically, you will be prepared by carrying business cards or information to give people.
Another way to use logic is virtually with your internet-based connections. You might belong in special groups where you can make social media posts on what you do and write blogs that add value on your area of expertise. When using logic in this way, you want to add value by first giving and sharing information in order to gain credibility and demonstrate your expertise in both subtle and direct ways.
A third way is leaving a trail. Like Hansel and Gretel, who left a trail of bread crumbs to find their way back home, look for ways you can leave your own trail of crumbs to help clients find their way to you, virtually or in person. Virtually, look for ways to share your website links. On your website, use a free-offer to encourage the visitor to opt in to your list so you can continue engaging and developing relationships with them. Update your e-mail signature block with links to your website or free offer. In person, you can hand out business cards or brochures, or offer to send someone something of interest to them. While speaking, you can use the process of seeding during a presentation or webinar. Seeding involves mentioning your offer a couple of times as you give a very valuable and information-packed presentation.

Logically, research helps you to understand your potential client. Here are a few tips:

• Find out where your potentials clients would be hanging out.
• Join their groups whenever possible.
• Take the time to really get to know them as a person first. What do they like and what interests them.
• Find out what problem they have. What keeps them up at night?
• Use logic to design a solution that fits their need.
• Offer to provide information. Be a resource first, then offer as appropriate.

Write down how you will use logic in your business planning to get more clients?

Using Law of Attraction to Get Your Next Client -
The law of attraction may seem a bit far out and “woo-woo”, but it works. For those of you not already familiar, the law of attraction is the intent and energy you put out into the universe to bring your ideal clients to you.

The first step in the law of attraction is to be sure about what you want and visioning what would happen in your very best case scenario. This involves being clear about your avatar (ideal client) and what you can do for those ideal clients. An avatar involves creating a very specific client personality that is representative of the age, interests, needs and demographics, etc.

• What does your perfect client avatar look like?
• What do you want to name your Avatar?
• What is important to your avatar? (values, hobbies, family, financial status)
• What exact problem do they have that you can solve?

Write out a description of your perfect client avatar, the problem you can solve and the ideal situation for working with that person:

The second step is to find ways to keep the focus on what you want to accomplish in front of you. By doing so, you will be encouraging the Law of Attraction to help you. Some ways to do this follow:

• Create daily reminders to focus on your vision.
• Write and use affirmations to help increase the energy around your positive expectations. Repeat the affirmations to strengthen your mindset.
• Prime yourself and your situation to be receptive of abundance.

Write out ways to solidify your focus for what you want to attract:

The third step is to move forward on the actionable steps that will help you get your new client. You need specific actionable steps that will help you move forward on accomplishing your goal. One way to do this is to brainstorm all the actionable steps you could take that might help you. Then pick the most important action steps you want to take to make the goal happen. Consider using the suggestions that were shared earlier in this article.

Write down action steps you will take to encourage the law of attraction so that you get your ideal client and situation. Be specific, note when and how you will do them. The most important part of encouraging the law of attraction is to believe and do the actions to move toward your goals.

As you clarify your goals, believe and take action, the universe begins to sense your resolve. You may be amazed at how the law of attraction works to help you get that new client when you are ready to receive it.

In summary, in this article we have talked about how to get that next client using luck, logic and the law of attraction. We encourage you to set aside time to consider your next client, vision what you really want, use luck, logic and law of attraction to bring that client your way. When you use all of the methods we have talked about in this article, you increase ways to reach your goals.

We wish you an enjoyable journey. Remember, you can’t do it all at once and you don’t need to do it all alone. Always know that we would be honored to be of service to you in your journey to achieve a more productive, prosperous business and a happier, more balanced life. If you have questions or would like more information, please contact us at Support@BoomingBusinessBlueprint.com. We look forward to getting to know you.

Please share this article in its entirety to those who might find it helpful.

Here’s to your success!
