Jason Jones ICF-MN fills my bucket!! I look forward to the in person meetings to connect with my tribe of coaches and enjoy the way of being only coaches embody. It energizes me. https://s3.amazonaws.com/ClubExpressClubFiles/907122/graphics/Jason_Jones_1992631113.jpg
Bev Lutz ICF membership provides incredible professional networking opportunities, professional and personal growth, and opportunities to explore my strengths as I volunteer in service of my profession.  My chapter really helps me stay current with coaching, thought leadership, and learn-n-earn (CEU’s) from professional development events.  But it’s the supportive coach-friends and collaborators who have made membership for me priceless. //s3.amazonaws.com/ClubExpressClubFiles/907122/graphics/BevLutz1_669008720.jpg

Irene Kelly

Being a member of ICF offers me the opportunity for certification by the industry professional standard bearer; being a member of ICF Minnesota connects me to my professional peers for networking and collaboration.  Membership in both establishes me as “credible” and provides me opportunities to learn and grow.

Flower stump
The “G” Word – Growth: What is the Big Deal?

Over the last few months while doing my daily ritual of a long walk I noticed something interesting. There was a tree trunk that had some wood chips and flowers placed inside of the area that was deteriorating, I thought wow that was really a creative idea! I wondered if it would grow or will it not get enough of what it needs to survive. Everyday I noticed there was a little bit more growth, sometime noticeable and sometimes not as much. Over the course of about 5 months It has grown into a beautiful flowering plant with vibrant color. During all the storm activity with heavy rains and hail this summer it continues to thrive, amazing I thought.

I began to think about the idea that, amid a “storm” and a standstill situation, does growth still happen and can it survive. While looking at the flowers in what I refer to is a “little miracle” it has given me the opportunity to reflect on all the growth around us every day. A season of growth can sometime be a little and sometimes be a lot. So, if there is growth around us there must be growth within us as well, how will we know and what will we do with it? Growth is something that is talked about in many situations and on many levels. The word is used so much that at times I wonder if we really do think about how powerful it is and how much opportunity there is around us. We have personal growth, professional growth, business growth, revenue growth, etc., etc., etc.

In order for growth to happen we have to show up with an open mind willing to consider the opportunity to see something new vs. holding on to what we already know. I think of it as expansion, the ability to acknowledge that there might be something even better than what we have or know already.

How will we know how much and what type of growth has happened? The measurement of growth can be easy to see when it is tangible but when it is not it can be harder to notice. Sometimes it shows up in how we react and handle a situation, how we think about something or how we show up in life.

As we have navigated through a lot over the last 6 months, I wonder what growth you have noticed within and around you. I leave you with some questions that might help you find your answers:

· Have you taken time to pause and reflect on what and how you have grown?

· Have you considered that no matter what is happening there is growth in action all around you?

· What will you do to notice the growth in you and others moving forward?

· As we work with clients, how do we help them see the growth that is happening that they might not see?

Take care,

Meet The Coach

1. What brought you to coaching?

Since 2007, I have been "coaching" truck drivers and support staff about their values when making decisions about their safety and the safety of others on the road throughout their day.  My position allowed me to have those (sometimes) difficult conversations that led drivers and their support to decrease their rate of crash events leading to a more robust bottom-line.

What I discovered was a passion for helping others discover their values and live up to their potential, I determined from all of my duties as a Certified Director of Safety (CDS) that coaching was what I was most passionate about so I stepped on the road to certification and accreditation and I haven't looked back.

2. Tell us about your coaching practice.  (Niche, ideal client, etc.)

I am a Certified Crash Coach and I deliver confidence, values, and safety-driven results to anyone who is hesitant or nervous about driving after they have experienced a crash.

3. What do you love about your coaching work?

Throughout my career even though I had no way of knowing for sure, I have always loved the idea that maybe with one conversation or powerful question, I saved someone's life today.  Coaching brings me that same peace and excitement when I partner with my clients on their journey to regain their confidence, knowing that they again trust in their ability to keep themselves and others on the road safe.

4. Tell us about the coaching tools, books, podcasts, etc. that you follow that helps you to stay informed.

I am currently working on Positive Intelligence certification which helps me remain mentally fit and my clients explore alternate perspectives during difficult situations.

I continue to work closely with Success Unlimited Network (SUN) by participating in Global Skills learning, as well as their Annual Global Retreat.  I love our deepest discovery discussions about The Kybalion, by Three Initiates and the joy and learning it brings.

My reading list consists of authors such as Brene Brown, Teri-E Belf, Lou Tice, Falco Tarassaco, Steve Chandler, Richard Leider, Tom Rath, Caroline Myss, Gary John Bishop, and Chris McChesney.  Brian Fielkow's Driving to Perfection and Leading People Safely, keep me on track when working to change corporate safety culture or a client's driving mindset.

I hold several safety-related association memberships and I utilize my ICF Global membership that keeps me connected, relevant, and informed.

5. How has ICF-MN helped you as a coach?

I have found a valuable connection to coaches in my area that offer support and kindness.

6. How can folks connect with you?

ICF MN Coaching Diversity Program and Grant- HOW CAN I HELP?

As you may already know, ICF MN has created a Coaching Diversity Program to develop 10 ICF credentialed coaches of color. This is the first program of its kind. We will be writing a grant to fund the majority of the program. Here is how you can help!

Donations: The cost of this program will be $85,000. It is more likely that we will receive a grant if we already have some financial support. ICF MN is giving a grant of $5,000, we are asking ICF Global to support us as well. We have currently received $3500 in donations from around the U.S. Read more...

From ICF MN

What might Coaching for Social Impact look like for you?

Locally, our MN ICF Chapter is winding down its second Ignite Initiative and we would like to put the call out to others who may be inspired to lead a project (any member holding an ACC or more advanced credential is eligible to serve on/lead a local Ignite project). The Ignite Program is an opportunity to partner with other coaches, to step into various leadership roles and most importantly to take a stand for needed change in our own communities. Projects both large and small have been taken, and the possibilities in support of the United Nation’s goals are virtually endless: They focus on a thriving society and flourishing of nature and represent the most ambitious effort in human history: 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
