Embracing the Messiness
The last few weeks I had an opportunity, in a front row seat, to watch the unfolding of a process that was very messy. My office overlooks the street where the installation of new driveways in our townhouse complex was underway. I watched the entire process from beginning to end which included: taking out the old driveways, excavation, applying the sub-grade, pouring new concrete aprons, and spreading the asphalt. It took days, used many types of equipment, was noisy, and kicked out a lot of dust and debris.
I was especially fascinated near the end of the process when the asphalt was taken from the truck and spread over the driveways. The process ended up with small piles of asphalt in the street that were later scooped up and returned to the truck. It was so messy to watch! Yet now I glance over to see pristine driveways which will be ready for use soon.
It reminds me of the coaching process. It can be messy for both the client and the coach. It can be a challenge to work through it. Yet by following the process and allowing the messiness something positive can be created. Some questions to ponder:
· How do you navigate the messiness of life?
· What have you created from your messiness?
· How are you helping your clients work through the messiness?
Here's to the “messy”!

Juneteenth and Reconciliation
Rev. Dr. Shawn Moore
Diversity and Inclusion Chair for ICF MN Board
So, it’s official - June 19th is now a federal holiday. Most are calling it Freedom Day; I’ve always called it Juneteenth. What does that mean to America? Better yet, what does that mean to you? I won’t go into the history of Juneteenth; you can do that by Googling. I want to talk a little about how I see Juneteenth becoming commercialized, and what this holiday could means for racial harmony in this country. First, I’d like to say that it appears to have taken only three days for Freedom Day to become a federal holiday. I heard about it on Wednesday night, the House and Senate passed the bill, and it went to President Biden’s desk to be signed. By 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening it was done. We now have a new federal holiday. Just as fast as a cherry bomb firework going off it was done! June 19th has become our newest federal holiday to be recognized annually – a day where we can reflect on FREEDOM and celebrate with Juneteenth festivities. read more... | Congratulations to our ICF MN members

Meet Deb Johnson
1. What brought you to coaching?
After a 37-year career in the telecommunication industry as an executive I decided to leave to pursue another position. My game plan was to find another high-level position and continue down a similar path. Along the way, while serving on a non-profit board, a fellow board member who happened to be an Executive Coach encouraged me take a class, “The Power of Possibility” at Learning Journeys International School of Coaching. That was it, I found that what I love to do is work with people who are in search of answers which are inside of all of us if we take the time to really listen and are patient. I realized that while I love the business world, I loved working with individuals and teams to leverage their gifts and talents so they could see the value they bring to the world.
2. Tell us about your coaching practice. (Niche, ideal client, etc.)
