Biography
After an amazing thirteen years in private practice as a Psychologist, specializing in trauma and having had the privilege of working with a diverse clientele in terms of presenting issues, background, age, ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, gender identification, sexual orientation, etc,, I am transitioning into a new role as a Holistic, Wellness and Spirituality Coach and Yoga/Tai Chi/Meditation Teacher. My approach is client-centered, non-judgmental and incorporates Eastern philosophy and modern Western psychology and medicine.
I assist clients in completing an overall assessment of their lifestyle and identifying areas where they would like to make changes so they can live their best lives. We set reasonable, time-bound goals and keep track of progress. The client is the expert in this process, while I provide insight, help them identify obstacles, and assist in holding them accountable. I also help clients identify their strengths and help them capitalize and utilize their strengths in moving toward a more satisfying and fulfilling life.
I work with clients struggling with relationship issues, low self-esteem, family of origin issues, work issues, trouble with motivation/procrastination, sexual dysfunction, anger-management, stress, general unhappiness, loneliness, isolation, writer's block, health issues, spirituality issues, emotional dysregulation, smoking and other addictive habits, and much more.
I also incorporate Yoga, Tai Chi, and Meditation into my coaching work with clients. I have found these practices to be life-changing. Since incorporated these practices into my own life, I have become more grounded and centered, and felt a sense of well-being and equanimity. I believe that incorporating mind/body practices into healing is crucial for overall health.
Our lives are a reflection of stored memories and subsequent, often suppressed emotions and behavioral patterns. I enjoy offering an individual the opportunity to explore his/her story (svadyaya or self study) to release emotions and behaviors that interfere with his/her ability to live with confidence and integrity. I consider it an honor to witness an individual grow through the process of therapy and work toward enlightenment.
My hobbies include activism, reading, spending time with family and friends, and writing poetry. I am in the process of writing a book which I plan to publish in the near future.
